Platform migrations are the number one cause of catastrophic organic traffic drops. One wrong redirect, one missing canonical, one URL that changed without a map back to the old one, and years of accumulated rankings can vanish overnight. The tragedy is that almost all of it is preventable — the stores that lose traffic in a migration are nearly always the ones that treated SEO as an afterthought to the move.

The risk comes from how much changes at once. URLs shift, templates change, schema and metadata may not carry over, sitemaps and robots rules need rebuilding for the new platform. Any of these in isolation is manageable; all of them together, without a plan, is how traffic falls off a cliff. And by the time you notice the drop in analytics, the crawl has already happened and the damage is done.

We de-risk the whole process. Before anything moves, we run a pre-migration audit inventorying every current ranking and URL, so we know exactly what has to be preserved. We build a complete 301 redirect map — every old URL pointing to its correct new destination — and update sitemaps and robots.txt for the new platform. After the move, we run a post-migration audit verifying every redirect and canonical is correct.

We monitor rankings through the transition period and keep a recovery plan ready in case anything slips, so issues get caught in days, not months.
